The Six Splendid Swords – Deularla Ithruen, Dunman Kiriag, Aroland Swiftwind, Kali Falar, Strejer, Belinay bint Hasan, and Tobin sat in the The Lonesome Tankard. The group was called together to meet with potential clients. They arrived (Scribe Astirox, Delotha knight of Mor Cam, Mastema, and Risa Starym) on schedule and requested we travel to a place called City of Song. Some of the party knew this as an ancient name for the place more recently known as Myth Drannor. They requested we retrieve a blade called Keryvian – an heirloom to the family.
The other sword on the steps
They paid with 40,00 gold up front. The party excitedly agreed on the job and left for Cormanthor the next day – though Kali had serious reservations as she recognized the image they gave as the Feybane Blade from the descriptions that Tradak Ironhouse had given her. They stopped first to purchase an Amulet of Protection from Good and Evil for Tobin. The journey to the City of Song was rather uneventful. Once there they walked through the city until they found the building their employers described to us. Much to our surprise there were two magical swords on the steps to this building – two appeared to have died in a duel wearing these swords. Just as we began to approach the swords two emerged from the darkness behind us – Rauko and Ellarin Starym (though Ellarin did not give her name, she did call Rauko by his name). After a breif exchange Rauko and Strejer suddenly flared hatred for each other, and Rauko – wide eyed – yelled “Bhaalspawn!”. At that moment Strejer transformed into a beast and attacked Rauko mercilessly. Bellinay and Kali helped Strejer while Aroland and Tobin went in the building – Tobin explored and Aroland took both blades, placed them in a sack, and wildshaped into a brown bear, melding the blades to himself – hoping the two would balance each other out.
As Rauko became injured, he surrendered. Before the party could question him, however, the girl executed him and fled. The party took his body back with them to Eveningstar. Along the way, they encountered a traveling merchant and Strejer told a tale of their adventure. That night Bellinay was possessed by the blue sword and murdered the merchant. Just then the party heard a company of Purple Dragons approaching, so Aroland again took the blades and wildshaped into a squirrel, able to keep a distance from the party. The rest of the party complied with the Purple Dragons, explained what happened to the merchant as best they could, and were promptly arrested and taken to the Eveningstar holding cells. Here they explained to Sword Captain Kristen Crownsilver what was going on, how they believed they were double crossed by their employers into retrieving a cursed sword. With the sword captain was Jerinar Onyx and Lord Seiveril Miritar – who both agreed the party was set up. They asked where the swords were hidden, and Aroland (who had been present in the form of a rat) returned to human form and revealed them at Kali’s request. The Feybane Blade was taken by Jerinar and the Keryvian was given to Miritar. They then departed and the party was released from prison. They returned to the Lonesome Tankard to explain to Dunman and Deularla what happened.
